History

Mini roulette is a modern online-casino creation from the 2000s. It compresses the classic wheel from 37 numbers down to just 13 (0–12) to speed the game up and make it more approachable. The idea is the same as original roulette, only on a smaller scale.

Mini roulette arose from a practical need: online casinos wanted a game that fits on a small screen and whose round is fast. Shrinking the wheel from 37 numbers to 13 also made it easier to learn — the whole table fits in your eye at once. It is a rare example of a casino game designed primarily for the digital environment.

Where it is played today

Mini roulette is seen almost exclusively in online casinos and game-teaching apps. In physical casinos it is rare, because a small wheel does not produce the same atmosphere — but for learning it is excellent, because the round is short and the odds are easy to calculate.

Rules

The wheel carries the numbers 0–12. Bet on a single number or on outside bets: red/black, even/odd, or 1–6 / 7–12. Zero is green and belongs to no outside bet. The ball is spun and settles on one of the 13 numbers.

Odds & the maths

A single number pays 11:1 (a 12× return). Because there are 13 winning numbers, the true odds would be 12:1 — the gap is the house edge, about 7.7%, higher than European roulette. Outside bets pay 1:1. The lesson: a smaller wheel does not mean better odds for the player — one zero among 13 numbers weighs more than one zero among 37.

Mini roulette’s mathematics clearly shows why the size of the wheel is secondary — what matters is the relative share of the zero. Among 13 numbers one zero is 7.7% of the wheel; among 37 numbers one zero is only 2.7%. The same "one green pocket" therefore means a completely different house edge. Whenever you assess a roulette version, calculate the share of the zeros out of the total.

One zero among 13 numbers weighs more than one zero among 37 — that is why mini roulette has a higher house edge than the European wheel.

Beginner’s guide

This is a good first roulette, because everything fits in your eye at once. Pick a chip value, click a number or an outside bet, press Spin. Try to calculate the probability in your head before each round — 13 numbers makes the mathematics concrete.
